BlackBerry Torch launches, half-off on Amazon today only

To celebrate today’s launch of RIM’s brand new smartphone, Amazon is offering the device for just under $100. The BlackBerry Torch, which launches today (Thursday), will cost $199 after two-year contract. However, prospective owners looking to buy the Torch today will find it at Amazon for $99, 50% off. The catch, you might ask? Well, there’s a couple. First, $99 is, of course, the price of the device after a two-year contract with AT&T, the phone’s exclusive carrier (for now), although cheap phones with service plans aren’t much of a catch anymore for those used to similar deals provided by almost every major carrier today. The other catch; the sale is today only, so for those considering the new BlackBerry, there’s no better day than launch to order one.

The Torch was announced almost a week and a half ago and been called “the best BlackBerry ever,” though it still has yet to generate the same amount of buzz conjured up by competitors.
